Calling out CNN’s support of hate speech

On the eve of a CNN premiere of the highly promoted Latino in America series, Latino leaders in 25 cities with high Latino populations across the country joined forces to rally against CNN’s hypocrisy and support of Lou Dobbs. Latino leaders and organizations are calling on the national news network to remove hate-monger Lou Dobbs from its regular programming and restore credibility to its news network.

Organizers explain that CNN, which makes claims to be the “most trusted name in news”, is only defiling itself when taking such a hypocritical stand as it refuses to remove Lou Dobbs’ myth-based opinionated reporting and yet hosts a series that focuses on the Latino experience in America to honor Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Colorado Latino Forum (CLF) hosted a press conference and town hall to join the efforts in calling out CNN for their hypocrisy. “It’s a shame that while they [CNN] honor us, they are also supporting the groups that are spreading lies about immigrants and creating a dangerous society for Latinos,” commented Isaac Medrano, Colorado State Director for Democracia Ahora and member of CLF.

Dobbs is notoriously known for spreading hate speech and anti-Latino and anti-immigrant rhetoric through his public platform on CNN. He has been consistently criticized for his myth spreading tactics and unproven conspiracy theories from respected journalists and anchors across the country.

“Enough is enough. CNN has allowed Dobbs to spout hate on its network for too long, and his alignment with a hate group like FAIR should be the last straw,” said Roberto Lovato of Presente.org, the national online group that is organizing an effort to remove Lou Dobbs from CNN. “We are calling on CNN President Jon Klein to drop Dobbs if he and his network are ...
