DPS launches college ready institutes

Hundreds of Denver high school students are expected to take part in the district’s first-ever College Ready Institutes to be held throughout the summer at several DPS high schools. These school-based institutes are designed for students who are interested in building their knowledge of the skills necessary to be successful in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Concurrent Enrollment courses.
Within each institute, students will take part in different workshops that are structured to help them prepare for the rigors of college and beyond. Through active writing, stimulating discussion, and fun interactive group activities, students will learn the different aspects of rigor and college readiness.
Whether the student is planning to attend a four-year college, a two-year technical school or join the workforce or military immediately after graduation, diving into these 21st century skills, students participating in the College Ready Institutes are destined to have a memorable learning experience.
Throughout the institute students will engage in the following:
Institutes will be held on various dates during the summer. Schedule: Abraham Lincoln High School, Aug 1-5, 8am-noon; Bruce Randolph School, August 3-5, 9am-Noon; Career Education Center - Middle College, Aug 15-17, TBA; Contemporary Learning Academy, Aug 8-9, 10am-2pm; Denver Center for International Studies, Aug 8-10, 8:30am-3pm; Denver School of the ARTS, Aug 8-10, TBA, DSA-Post Secondary Awareness Day, Aug 18, (all 11th & 12th graders), TBA; East High School, Jul 25-29, 8am-Noon; George Washington High School, Jul 25-29 & Aug 1-5, 8am-Noon; John F Kennedy High School, Aug 8-9, 8am-Noon; Manual High School, Aug 9-11, 8:30am-3pm; MLK Early College, Jul 25-Aug 4, 8am-Noon; Montbello High School, Aug 15-17, 8:30am-3pm; North High School, Sep 10, 17 & 24, 8am-3pm; Online High School, Ongoing starting Aug 1; weekly registrations; PREP Academy, Aug 8, 9am-Noon; South High School, Jul 27-29, 8:30am-3pm; Summit Academy, Aug 11-12, 10am-2pm, Thomas Jefferson High School, Jul 25-29 & Aug 1-5, 8am-Noon; and West High School, Aug 8-9, 8am-Noon.
