Time, faith, unity will eventually get us there

It has been one year since President Obama was officially inaugurated as President of our country. The nation’s people had elected a man who offered solutions to our troubled nation.

It has been a long time since people were drawn together for a common cause in changing a hopeless situation.

Now, a year later it seems all he is receiving is condemnation. I say give the man a break – he’s had only one year to reverse eight years of massive and corrupt destruction due to past leadership.

We have experienced one of the worst recessions since the depression. This country’s financial gluttony has gone beyond shameless. President Obama and his administration did not initiate the disgrace of this nation. To me, I view President Obama and his administration as the new tenant of a former crack house; trying to renovate and rebuild a better community. He is trying to clean up the neighborhood, rid the area of those who prey on the poor, and shine a light on the cucas and their dirty deeds; and still taking pot shots from the former tenants.

And while the President is also trying to extinguish the flames of former tragedies across the world – he is barraged with criticism from every spectrum of the country.

Immigrant rights groups are upset because he has not done enough or acted fast enough to reform immigration policies. Recently, columnist Earl Ofari Hutchison wrote that Blacks think President Obama has lacked efforts to rectify poverty in their community. The LGBT community is frustrated with lack of support for their rights. Peace activists want the President to end the wars -- now.
