REID MEETS WITH CARDINAL ROGER MAHONY ABOUT IMMIGRATION REFORM

Nevada Senator Harry Reid met Thursday with Cardinal Roger Mahony to discuss comprehensive immigration reform and the DREAM Act.
Washington, DC

Nevada Senator Harry Reid met Thursday with Cardinal Roger Mahony, the retired Archbishop of Los Angeles. Cardinal Mahony is a strong supporter of comprehensive immigration reform and the DREAM Act. Cardinal Mahony has publicly criticized the Arizona and Alabama laws as “mean-spirited” and “retrogressive.”

“I am moved by the passionate efforts of Cardinal Mahony to promote the DREAM Act and comprehensive immigration reform. Like many people in Nevada and around the country, Cardinal Mahony realizes that our immigration system is broken and we need Republicans to work with us on a comprehensive solution,” said Reid. “The DREAM Act will give thousands of innocent children an opportunity to succeed in this country and achieve the American dream. The DREAM Act cannot pass the Senate without bipartisan support, and we need more people like Cardinal Mahoney asking Republicans and Democrats to work together toward passing this important legislation. On my part, I will continue fighting to enact the DREAM Act and comprehensive immigration reform.”
