Acapulco: More than just a beach!

What could be more soothing than taking a barefoot stroll down the sandy beach as the tide rolls in over the top of your feet, while watching pink and orange hues of the sunset as it sinks into the ocean for the night? Absolutely nothing! Welcome to Acapulco, México, where miles of endless beach greet you with a warm embrace, which is sure to make you smile.

Acapulco is most notably known for its beautiful beaches and tranquil scenery, but what many tourists don’t realize is that there are more things to do in Aca than your vacation time may allow for, which is a great excuse for second vacation! Acapulco offers an eclectic variety of entertainment, everything from cliff divers and museums to boat rides and nightclubs.

You can take the kids to Cici Water Park to swim with the dolphins, watch a seal and dolphin show, enjoy water slides and play in the wave pool. Another family friendly attraction is Papagayo Park, a 52-acre play land that features carnival rides as well as the Magico Mundo Marino, a sea aquarium which presents a sea lion show, animal feeding and an oceanographic museum.

If you are interested in the deep history of Aca, you can visit several historical sites and museums located within minutes of your stay. The San Diego Fort, which was built in the 17th century, has a museum on the history of pirates and cultural trading between the Americas, Europe and Asia. The House of Masks is another worthwhile stop, and is conveniently located down the street from the San Diego Fort. Inside you can admire the art of hand-crafted and hand-painted masks ranging from hundreds of years old to less than a decade old.
