Jif(R) Calls For Entries in Ninth Annual Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest(TM)

ORRVILLE, Ohio, July 29 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Jif is now accepting entries in the Ninth Annual Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest.

Parents can help their kids age six to 12 submit their creative sandwich recipes showcasing the fresh-roasted peanut taste of Jif for the chance to win a $25,000 scholarship. Four runners-up will each receive a $2,500 scholarship.

Ninth Annual Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest
Now through October 22, kids can put their sandwich making skills to the test, and parents can submit their childrens creative recipes by completing a downloadable entry form available at www.jif.com and www.jifenespanol.com. Sandwiches will be judged on creativity, taste, appearance, nutritional balance and ease of preparation. Qualified entrants who submit their entry in the first six weeks of the call for entries will receive a Jif To Go(TM) Back To School pack while supplies last and provided the entry is postmarked by September 10, 2010 and received by September 17, 2010.

"Jif is thrilled once again to host a contest that encourages creativity in the kitchen and brings together parents and kids," said Maribeth Badertscher, Vice President, Corporate Communications, The J.M. Smucker Company. "Over the last eight years, we have seen a creative use of ingredients that complement the peanutty taste of Jif in everything from lettuce wraps to quesadillas. Weve seen year over year, that when creativity and two tablespoons of peanut butter are combined the possibilities are endless."

Last years winner, Rachel G. of Clovis, CA, thought outside of the bread box with her winning sandwich, "PB and Fruity Says Let Us Wrap." Using lettuce instead of traditional bread, Rachel combined chicken, grapes, honey and Jif Creamy Peanut Butter for a unique dish that wowed the panel of judges.

This year, contest entries will be accepted in both English and Spanish at www.jif.com and www.jifenespanol.com. Ten semifinalists will be selected in January 2011 and posted on both web sites to take part in a nationwide online vote. Anyone age 13 and older can vote to help select the five finalists who will go on to compete in New York City in March 2011.

Entries for the Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest must be postmarked by October 22, 2010 and received no later than October 29, 2010. Early bird entries for the Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest must be postmarked by September 10, 2010 and received no later than September 17, 2010.
