Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) Responds to FCCs Public Notice

WASHINGTON, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- On Wednesday, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Genachowski released a Public Notice seeking comment on two aspects of the Open Internet proceeding.

The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) released the following statement in reaction to the Public Notice:

"The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement supports preserving the Internets current openness and freedom as well as policies that will lead to continued broadband investment and innovation. Thereby, LCLAA is encouraged by the progress that has been made in discussions around the FCCs open Internet proceeding and hopes the dialogue leads to consensus. Resolving this divisive debate will allow and enable efforts to build out Americas broadband networks, which, in turn, will help foster economic growth. As a leading voice for Latino trade unionists, LCLAA has a vested interest in ensuring that the result of this proceeding will advance policies that promote jobs and affordable broadband. We look forward to sharing our thoughts on the matter."

The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) is a national Latino organization representing the interests of over 2 million Latino(a) trade unionists throughout the United States and the Common Wealth of Puerto Rico. Since its inception in 1973, LCLAA has organized and advocated for the rights of workers seeking justice in the workplace and in their communities. LCLAA is a constituency group representing Latino activists and union members belonging to the AFL-CIO and the Change to Win Federation. Visit us at http://www.lclaa.org/
